Get Your Rest

Apparently Luis Castillo needs more rest.

He got it tonight. He got a whole six batting slots of rest.

And look what it did for him ... he got three hits! Castillo must have learned to sleep standing up. (Or perhaps he's practicing Inemuri, the Japanese practice of sleeping on the job.)

So here's a managerial move that Willie Randolph isn't going to get credit for. He batted Castillo eighth and Ryan Church second against Matt Chico ... Ryan Church! The guy who can't hit lefties! And Church only went out and hit a home run in the first inning, and then singled in front of Carlos Beltran's three run home run to help the Mets to a 5-2 victory.

You know what, I'm gonna ask my boss for a rest every sixth and seventh day ... see how that goes.

Oh, it's going to be a great series this weekend. You have to agree that Sunday Night Baseball has a sort of Monday Night Football feel to it. Perhaps I should post this when you write a post about the Phils/Met series, but I am giddy. First time the Mets come to town. I don't even care if we lose 2 outta 3 against the 'Strohs.

Sunday Night Baseball feels more like Monday Night Football than Monday Night Football does these days. At least it did last year for Yanks/Mets at Shea.

Might you be going to any of the games?

Sobering tidbit:

"The Mets had a moment of silence for the fan who fell from an escalator at Shea Stadium on Tuesday night and later died. Antonio Nararainsami, 36, of Brooklyn, was leaving the game with his two daughters and several other relatives when he fell from an escalator below the left-field stands. He landed on a concrete floor and was rushed to a hospital. Doctors pronounced him dead 30 minutes later."

Nah, I won't be at any of the games. But the atmosphere for Friday night should be electric. Colbert VS Johan. I'm gonna have to leave work early to get home for the first pitch.
