Steroids, Boos, Notebooks And The Tongue

Somewhere, in the deep recesses of Citizens Bank Shoebox, Cory Lidle is trying to figure out how many runs the Mets would have scored tonight without the use of performance enhancers.

Somewhere, in a Philadelphia suburb, a wife is being booed by her husband...and she can't figure out why.

Somewhere, in a notebook at his locker, Carlos Delgado is jotting "ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"

And somewhere, somewhere in the city of New York, a Met fan is relieved. Relieved that one heartbreaking loss hasn't turned into two losses in a row...then three...then four. Relieved that Tom Glavine hasn't turned back into the Tom Glavine of 2003, and is looking more and more like those days are history.

Relieved...also...that his days of missing Mets games completely due to other responsibilities are coming to an earlier than expected end.

But until that day comes, enjoy this exclusive (all right maybe not exclusive, but it sounds good) shot of Mike Pelfrey in his first start at Binghamton, provided by young Elliot, who has proven to be a gentleman and a scholar. There's something almost Jordan-esque at work here, can you spot it?

Mike "The Tongue" Pelfrey. Some nicknames just write themselves!

Oh wait, Elliot wrote that too.

Mike "The Tongue" Pelfrey

Doesn't quite strike fear into anyone's heart.

Sounds like an adult film star doesn't it?

He needs to put a stud or a spike or a throwing star in that tongue to intimidate.

Could be. I was trying to thing of something funny but came up lame. Instead of throwing a stinker up there I stayed away from the making jokes all together.

The spike might work, but between Jose running around wagging his tounge, David Wright sticking his out when hits the balls it's getting nuts.

One time is an isoliated incident.
Two times is coincidence.
Three time is just getting fucking weird.

What's the deal?

They all grew up watching MJ. Remember how he always had the tongue wagging?
It could be worse, they could be wagging their tongues to the media and saying stupid crap.
Memo to Corey Lidle - your start last night might be what Wagner was talking about last season.
If you are going to talk trash, back it up.
Know your role and shut your mouth. A career journeyman on his 6th team should be seen giving up lots of runs, not heard talking smack.

My photo of my favorite minor league pitcher in my favorite blog! It's all too much!

Thanks for the mention, Metstra.
