It's Like Having A Dentist Extinguish A Fire
I understand that one save of a Johan Santana victory doesn't mean that the bullpen shouldn't stop designing those t-shirts that say "I Got Traded To The Mets And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt" on the front, along with "And 17 No-Decisions Too" on the back. (I wonder if Johan has exited the fetal position yet.)
But if Jerry Manuel thinks that John Maine as closer is a good idea, consider that in pitches 1-15 of a game, Maine has an ERA of 7.03.
And maybe Juan Samuel would work in center field too.
By the way, South Korea crushed one-time Met starter Brandon Knight in Olympic play today. Obviously, South Korea provides a higher level of competition than the Cardinals.

Schneck has a dental appointment next week. Schneck isn't sure whether he'd prefer a night at the dentist office or a night of watching the Met bullpen work. At least it appears that tonight's lead is bulletproof. Or is it?
