Friends In The Pen
I don't know what's more amazing: that the tying run came to bat for the Nationals in a game that the Mets once led 7-1, or that the Mets used seven pitchers to close the deal for Brandon Knight ... yet Al Reyes still can't buy his way into a game.

Actually, the fact that the tying run came to bat in a game the Mets once led 7-1 is not even the slightest bit amazing. What was amazing was the fact that the Nats didn't win by a score of 8-7.
Gird your loins! Hide your pets! Pour yourself a stiff drink! It's the Mets bullpen here to save the day!
Last night's game was game 111. Last year, at game 111, the Mets beat Washington, after losing the first 2 games of the series.
Or was it more amazing that David Wright turned into a 6 year old school girl on that routine ground ball in the 9th.
We may have to send Dr. Phil to talk to David - he looks like he's got the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Lost in the bullpen mess, that was a great game by Carlos Beltran. Even forgetting the two dingers. He played fantastic defense. Twice sprinting backwards on balls hit over his head. Just running to a spot, then picking the ball back up. That is easier said than done. And the throw to second to double off Casto was more accurate than any pitch thrown by a reliever.
Hey, maybe he's the answer to our problems....
And, hey, ya think the Braves could at least take one game from the Phils? I know its way out there to think that Cox and his team would rather see the Phils win the division and bounce the Mets this weekend, but it'd be nice if they could take 1 out of three . . .
I've said it before, this team could use some therapy, maybe not from Dr Phil, whose voice bears an uncanny resemblance to Mr Mackey from South Park (MMMMMkay) but from a pro who could help the work out some of these issues.
Either that or a hypnotist. Heillman could use both.
BTW - anyone noticed these ad banners for the movie "Choke" showing up all over the NYTimes article from yesterday's game? Its beenn all over my Facebook page too.
I believe last night's game was #151.
Al Reyes must have looked pretty bad in the minors and in the bullpen for the Mets to not even give him a look yet.
Santana may go 130 pitches tonight if the game is close.
al reyes just got released
