Chris Carter Is Free ...

... to go to Buffalo, as the Mets made their almost final cuts on Friday after Fernando Tatis' fly ball reached the warning track and no further against Tampa Bay on Friday night to end a 4-2 loss. Tatis and his .163 spring training average was not one of Friday's cuts. In a season where everybody should have been fighting for a job, it turns out Tatis was safe all along. ... Just swell.

The Animal is back in the cage.

As for Carter, once again, great idea trading Billy Wagner for him and Eddie Lora (and saving three million bucks) instead of getting the two draft picks for him as compensation, and then not keeping Carter up after a good spring ensuring that he'll never see the light of day. Yeah, that trade worked out well. Hope they didn't spend the money in one place (Tatis and Alex Cora ... two places.)

And if your response is "well, they shouldn't keep Chris Carter up to justify the Wagner trade because he's only a marginal Quadruple-A player", well then Omar Minaya traded the chance at two high draft picks for a marginal Quadruple-A player. Your tax dollars at work. Speaking of:

Nelson's life with the Mets.

In other news, the organization that was once equated with family values has f$#%ed over Nelson Figueroa for the 4,238th time by cutting him on Friday as well. Figueroa, if he doesn't sign with the Phillies to f$#% the Mets back and get even, will most likely head off to Japan where he will most likely pitch the Nippon Ham Fighters to a title and co-manage a chain of McDonald's franchises with Shinjo. Remember this when Oliver Perez and his 31.74 ERA is sent to Savannah because they feel that the players on that roster would be a positive influence on him, and John Maine has to go on the disabled list due to a strained throat he suffered during an intense puke.

"He's got options" is the only reason Omar provides for sending down Carter, guy who consistently impressed ths spring. God forbid some one else picked up Tatis, Catalanatto or anyone else from our stocked bench.

Classic Metstradamus! Good call. I've cancelled my Mets MLB package this year because I can't stand the frustration of watching even two innings of Oliver Perez. Every single Mets pitcher vying for the 5th spot in the rotation this Spring pitched much better than ANY of the top four starters. Chris Carter blasts nearly every ball pitched to him this Spring and Figgy outpitches the starting rotation and they get cut. Where's the justice? The Mets had a whole lot of bright spots in camp with younger players, but after that tease, the final cuts just leave the same old under-performing leftovers (and 3 starters on the DL) going into opening day. With this kind of excitement, both people that show up for opening day should enjoy their seats.

Yeah, Mejia has options too but that doesn't seem to scare off our fearless leaders.

And Trash Man, you'll never get to see two innings of Oliver Perez this season ... at least in one sitting.

Just a matter of time before Manuel puts Tatis back in the cleanup spot for that one homerun he hits between dozens of GIDPs.

It's interesting that the guy's name is Chris Carter, because this team is worthy of an episode of The X-Files. The Truth is Out There indeed.

Don't forget, Metstra...1.25 million of that 3 million saved on Billy Wagner was spent on Kelvim Escobar. That's a worthwhile signing...they need somebody to keep the DL warm all season. God forbid the team actually does not have a single player on there all year!

agree with you about Carter, though it's just a matter of time before someone gets hurt and we have another roster spot. Half-agree with Figgy, though I think the fact that I like the guy clouds my thoughts about him. Mejia should be nowhere near the majors right now.

I'm usually the guy spouting for people to remain optimistic, but after this spring, the most optimism I can muster is the fact that Jerry and Omar will be exposed and gone sooner, and the Ricco and Bobby V 2.0 era can begin.

And now after giving up FOUR runs in an inning today, they choose Sean Green over Valdez. Where's the logic? It's as if they are trying to put the worst players on the field. What happened to "riding the hot hand." They've definitely thrown that out the window. Everyone who was hot this Spring got cut and everyone who performed poorly made the team.

to make matters worse they also
kept sean green..who absolutely
blows....we sent down figgy, placed
misch on waivers...and we get this
clown. I really can't take it anymore.....
