That was the caption written under a picture very similar to the one above of Shane Victorino daring to celebrate after a game tying playoff home run and pasted in Victorino's locker before Game 5 of the NLCS. Obviously a jab at Victorino for showing emotion. Funny how this team has surpassed the Mets, left them in the dust, made them eat dust, yet are still obsessed with them. Professionals? Or bitter schoolgirls? You decide.
Too bad the Dodgers didn't see it and get all pissed off and use it as the inspiration to beat the crap out of them the rest of the series. Oh yeah, that only happens to the Mets.
On the bright side, Manny Ramirez is a free agent. The bad news is that the Manny that Omar Minaya goes after will probably wind up being Manny Alexander.
Excuse me while I stick my head in the oven.

Calm down, Sylvia. Everything is going to be okay.
I had the exact same reaction to the story. These guys have some major inferiority complex going on if they keep needing to make everything about the Mets. It's kind of creepy. Maybe if they win the WS, they'll finally be over Jose. That isn't even getting into the idea that they are paid millions of dollars to care about what they do, and yet insist on publicly chastising someone else for caring too much. Victorino should just go sit on a pineapple.
Maybe just maybe some of the Mets should be watching the playoffs.
For the 3rd straight year I had to read in the paper yesterday how Wright et al CAN'T BARE TO WATCH.
REALLY?
Maybe if they did they would learn something.
Any room in that oven, Damus?
Manny Alexander? Manny Aybar? Manny Mota? Manny, Moe, and Jack?
The Dodgers weaknesses caught up with them, plain and simple. Game 5 was mailed in after the game 4 fuck up (memo to Joe Torre, if you are going to pitch a guy on 3 days rest in the fucking NLCS, don't hang a pitch count on him.) And Matt Stairs? I didn't even know he was still alive, let alone playing.
All that said, it sure seems like it's the Rays year after the beatdowns they've been putting on the Sox. (Yeah, they've come back from 3-0 and 3-1 in the past 5 years, but you can't make a habit out of such things. They're gonna be hard pressed to do it again.)
Philly bastards . . .
Go Rays.
Is it just me or have you noticed that the one exception to just about every stat announced by Joe Buck involves the Mets. Like "The Phillies only back once from a 7 run deficit . . . against the Mets."
If the Mets had ANY sort of policing in their clubhouse maybe they would be the champs on the National League. I don't have a problem with it at all. Reyes made himself an antagonist throughout the league, and no one in the Mets clubhouse kept him grounded.
To Anonymous, what the hell does that even mean. "Made himself an antagonist." Did he insult their moms? Did he curse at them? Did he key their cars in the parking lot? This sort of bile spewing forth from the mouths of the Phillies needs to be backed by something more than "he celebrates too much."
When I turned 21, I celebrated hard for 5 or 6 straight days until I was nothing but a pile a mush. But I didn't have a bunch of guys following me around c--kblocking me, then telling everyone I deserved it for "celebrating too much."
"If the Mets had ANY sort of policing in their clubhouse maybe they would be the champs on the National League. I don't have a problem with it at all. Reyes made himself an antagonist throughout the league, and no one in the Mets clubhouse kept him grounded."
Horsehockey.
Players across MLB do the same, if not worse.
Who cares if he pisses other teams off? He gets the job done.
The 86 team was hated, yet they blew by everyone.
Blaming Jose, or saying he should temper his "antics" is silly. The team did not lose because of him. They lost because the bullpen sucked at an epic level.
What inferiority complex? They beat the Mets when it counted most and are the NL Champions. They've got nothing to feel inferior about.
And don't give me that 125 year history of losing crap! Maybe Vic, Rollins, Utley, Howard, Burrell, and all those guys were the ones playing for all of those 125 years, that argument might carry some weight, but they haven't.
They're a 2008 team that stuck it to another 2008. If you don't like it, pray your boy Omar makes a big splash in free agency this off season and acquires some relievers.
"They've got nothing to feel inferior about."
My point exactly. So why are they STILL obsessing about Jose Reyes?
It's not obsessing! It's an inside joke about a bitter rival...and it's pretty funny...rosenthal weaseled his way in and found the story...
get over yourselves, please...give some credit where credit is due and count down the days until pitchers and catchers
Yeah, because that's exactly what I'm going to do ... throw bouquets at the Phillies and their players who can't seem to get over Jose Reyes and his dancing even though they're in the World Series, or the Braves who dance around signing Meet the Mets after almost getting into a brawl with the Phillies that very night.
Yeah, I'm going to bow down these baseball war criminals. Good luck getting that to happen. If so called "professionals" aren't going to let go of these grudges then guess what: neither will I. But I'm not a professional baseball player who makes a gazillion dollars. What's their excuse?
Credit this.
It's not just the Phillies players who have the inferiority complex. Anyone I've ever known from Philadelphia has a huge hard on against New York. They live in New York's sizable shadow and it gnaws at them every day. It's a bush league burg full of New York wannabees. A two-bit backwater on the Delaware. Nobody aspires to work hard, sacrifice, and someday make it big in Philly, except if you're from South Jersey.
