Rethinking My Position

Oliver Perez threw a bullpen session today.

Nobody died.

I was wrong. I guess hope really does spring eternal.

I know I'm late with this... but what the hell?? Rod Barajas?? That guy has a lower OBP than Rey Ordonez...

Think about that for a second!

(Metstra, please post this comment to last week's blog and bump it so everyone can see... thanks)

That technology might be too advanced for me ;)

Rod Barajas and his lower OBP than Rey Ordonez would have led the 2009 Mets in home runs... By far...

Maybe the Mets should make ol' Ollie a position player!

...What? It won't really detract from the offense, and definitely wouldn't hurt the pitching side either.

Better Barajas for one year than Schneider for two. Although knowing the Phillies, Schneider will hit .300 for them.

hehe Ollie as a position player would be fun. seeing him screw himself into the ground on every swing. and of course, we all know that Ollie Perez knows only one swing...the long ball swing. that'd be a show in and of itself (and probably would be more exciting then the other 24 guys on the team).

i happen to agree with your point of view on Ollie, but unfortunately we're just gonna have to hope he does well or gets injured, since it's obvious the mets plan to have him in the rotation. And hoping for injury....well do we really have anyone else with as much potential (all be it, frustratingly unrealized)?

now for the barajas homerun comment...Your're talking about one season, most likely an outlier. A season where the beef of the Mets line up was missing most of the season and never got to play together. I don't know what to think about barajas, really. On the one hand, maybe he is the best we got, on the other, maybe he's not a significant upgrade over Santos. and on yet another hand, could we have not done better with the money we spent on all these back up catchers by getting one better starting catcher, or putting the money into one of the pitchers?

See i can complain about the mets management too..lol.

Santos could've been the 1-year stop gap just as well.. he's just as good (or bad) and we're already paying him

this is basically GMJ/Pagan Part II

Hey, pay close attention, sometimes a fourth will sneek out and get ya. It's great for juggling though.
