Percival injured, Ugie staying put for now:
WDFN in Detroit is reporting that Tigers' closer Troy Percival will be out for 4-6 weeks after being diagnosed with a a partial tear of the flexor pronator muscle mass in his pitching arm. Percival is on the DL retroactive to May 8th.
What does this mean to me? Simply that the Ugueth Urbina/Kyle Farnsworth sweeptakes comes to a screeching halt, since the Tigers will most likely keep both for the 'pen for the rest of the year rather than bank on Percival staying healthy the rest of the season. If the Mets decide to look for bullpen help, they will most likely have to look elsewhere. Jeremy Affeldt is a possibility with the emergence of Ambiorix Burgos as the Royals closer. Danys Baez of Tampa Bay is another name being thrown out there.
