New Mets vs. Old Generations

The last pitch the Mets saw on Sunday was from Jason Isringhausen, a castoff from Generation K (which is short for Kouldn't Stay Healthy Because Dallas Green Blew Out Our Arms). The next pitch they see will be from another K-astoff, Paul Wilson. Wilson was torched in his last two starts, giving up 12 hits in 5 innings against San Diego, and before that, gave up 8 runs without getting anyone out against the Dodgers. This obviously means he's due to look like Christy Mathewson against the Mets on Monday night. The Reds are 11-23 against teams not named Mets in 2005, and 3-0 against Flushing. Please don't wake up Joe Randa while we go through the matchups:

Monday night: Paul Wilson (1-4, 7.46) vs. Kris Benson (0-1, 6.75)

Ken Griffey Jr. is hitting .500 (7 for 14) against Benson lifetime.
Carlos Beltran is hitting .200 (4 for 20) against Wilson, but is 2 for 3 this season.
Cliff Floyd is hitting .409 (9 for 22) with a HR against Wilson.

Tuesday night: Ramon Ortiz (1-1, 6.75) vs. Victor Zambrano (2-3, 5.45) OR Kaz Ishii (0-2, 4.82)

Carlos Beltran is hitting .235 (4 for 17) with a HR lifetime off Ortiz.
Doug Mientkiewicz is hitting .200 (4 for 20) lifetime off Ortiz.

Wednesday afternoon: Eric Milton (2-4, 7.21) vs. Tom Glavine (2-4, 5.77)
