Keep an eye...
Somewhat lost in the barrage of Yankee moves is that reliever Steve Karsay is expected to be designated for assignment today. It basically means accept a minor league assignment, or start looking for a new organization. Karsay is apparently the victim of a numbers game in the Bronx; too many relievers for not enough spots.
I wonder if Karsay, a Flushing native, is on Omar Minaya's radar for the Mets' pen. He's coming off two seasons of injuries, but if he comes around he might be a stabilizing option in a bullpen that includes Manny Aybar, Heath Bell, and Royce Ring. Ring is a young lefty so his spot seems secure, but Karsay would probably spell the minors for either of the other two. It's something worth keeping one eye on.
Tonight: Tom Glavine (1-3, 5.67) against Brett Myers (1-1, 1.35). Myers has been tough this season with a WHIP of 0.99, but the good news is he's not a Brave, so Glavine has a fighting chance tonight.
